Graham was born and educated in Bath where his love of painting developed, with a corner of the art class dedicated as Cox corner. After leaving school in 1974 Graham joined the Royal Navy as a Radio Operator travelling the world on the grey funnel line where he remained until 1984.On leaving the Navy Graham began work for the Ministry of Defence in Bath, but it wasn't until 1994 when convalescing after illness that he saw a David Bellamy episode of Art Works that re-kindled his passion for painting. Graham converted to pastel painting in 1999, amazed at the effects he was able to achieve with stormy skies, misty mountains and evocative seascapes.
Graham currently still works full time for the Ministry of Defence whilst running extremely popular one-day pastel workshops near his home in Trowbridge Wiltshire, and visits local art groups for workshops and demonstrations.
Graham now has a DVD entitled "Moody Views Beginning in Soft Pastel" showing Graham's methods and techniques used to create atmospheric skies, seas, waves, rocks, shingle, trees and reflections.
