Each year, for 2 weeks in the Victoria Hall High Street Oakham we hold and exhibit over 60 paintings by 4 local artists. The images on show this year are of a high standard and are in 4 varying styles. They are all for sale at affordable prices. They show what we consider to be a true representation of the high standard that the local artist community is now producing.. It promises to be an interesting and exciting exhibition.
This year our invited guest artists are Barbara Allen from West Deeping and Paula Chapman from Twyford. Barbara paints in oils and produces the most stunning landscapes in a truly atmospheric and impressionistic style using a beautiful and subtle colour palette. Paula uses the finest silk as the medium for her work and using the most colourful range of dyes produces vibrant images that capture the imagination of the viewer.
Ken is submitting local scenes of Rutland and further afield, painted in a sparkling tradition watercolour style which have always proved popular. My images, well they are different, witty, whimsical, naïve, colourful watercolour landscapes painted in a distorted childlike perspective and impressionistic style.
Prior to the exhibition there is an Preview night on Monday 2nd Aug. 5.30 - 7.30 where the exhibition will be officially opened by Mr David Penny the owner of Greetham Garden Centre. David is a local JP and a fantastic supporter of the local artistic community. He has been and still is one of the main sponsors of the annual Rutland Open Studios Event, We look forward to meeting him and his wife and hearing his opening speech as he possesses a very wicked sense of humour.
Exhibition dates : from Tuesday 4th August to Sunday August 16th . 2009 Open every day 10.00 am to 4.00 pm.
